                                  Updated for WINTER/SPRING SEASON REGISTRATION

Mini Aces Tennis, one of our most popular programs, is for beginners and advanced beginners between the ages of 7-10 years old. The Mini Aces Tennis program introduces students to the core tennis strokes in a fun, secure environment. Students learn the technical fundamentals of the forehand, backhand, serve, overhead, and volley. In each class they receive help with technique, participate in high energy tennis drills, hit balls and partake in fun games. With each session, students will improve their understanding of tennis and muscle memory.

Class Details

Class Description: Mini Aces Tennis focuses on proper technique, ball contact, follow through, and movement. Students start at the midcourt line (service line) and gradually move further back when their abilities and technical skills increase. In addition, students learn the rules of the game and how to play a full singles and doubles match. Depending on skill level, students may also be introduced to spin shots and other technically advanced skills. Mini Aces courts are set up according to the Quickstart method, taking up 1/2 of a full tennis court in order to adequately match the skills, ages, and abilities of 7-10 year olds.
Class Formats: Classes will be tagged either as BeeHive or HoneyComb.  All instructors are trained tennis professionals, who specialize in dealing specifically with children in this age group.
Class Length: Classes run for 60 minutes. Lessons consist of dynamic stretching, technical instruction from the instructors, hitting balls, tennis games, and running. There are 2-3 water breaks during every lesson.

Playing Space

We offer Mini Aces Tennis at all of our locations.

We have outdoor tennis courts as well as indoor locations (large gymnasiums), in which we setup a complete Tiny Tennis Pro tennis court that matches the skills, sizes, and abilities of young children. Using the Quickstart method established by the USTA, the shorter nets and smaller racquets and balls enable children 10 and under to learn tennis in an easier, more fun way. Scaling down the game enables children to feel overjoyed, instead of overwhelmed and provides them with the confidence and ability to cover the entire court. Mini Aces classes use 1/2 of the full sized tennis court.

    • Court- Mini nets are 18′ long and 2.9′ tall, allowing us to put as many as 4 nets on one full size court.

  • Racquets- In all of our youth tennis programs, we ask that youth racquets be used not only to prevent injury, but to also make it easier for students to have control of their movements. Children 7-10 year olds can use 23″ or 25″ racquets. We have racquet rentals available for $2/lesson if your child needs one.
  • Balls- Regulation tennis balls are too heavy for smaller racquets, in addition to being too fast and bouncy. Foam or low-compression balls move slower and bounce less, so students can practice volleying and work on hand-eye coordination.

Cancellations

Weather Cancellations

If your class is canceled due to bad weather, we will contact you via email and automated phone message that day prior to class. We hope to notify you 1.5-2 hours before the class. However as much as we try, we don’t always get it right, so thank you for your understanding with the fickle nature of rain. Read our entire weather cancellation policy.

For youth classes, the rained out class will be added to the end of your session at the same time and place. Please pencil into your calendar the 2 weeks after the “technical” end of your child’s session for rain make ups. The dates are included in your class notes.

Student Cancellations

We strictly follow our cancellation policy if your child has to miss class. Please read it over thoroughly.

FAQs

Can my child do a trial lesson?

Sure! You can create a BumbleBee Tennis profile for your child and make payment for the class ($38), however we would not enroll your child in the lesson of your choice until 2 days prior to the week in which you’d like him/her to take the trial lesson. This allows those who would like to sign up for the full session to do so.

What type of equipment does my child need?

All students should wear covered sports shoes or sneakers. Sandals, Keds, and other types of shoes don’t offer the type of ankle and feet support that we recommend.

In addition students must bring their own racquet or use a rental racquet for $2/session.
