BumbleBee Summer Tennis Camp in NYC

Tennis
The BumbleBee Tennis Camp is perfect for beginners and advanced beginners who want to learn and improve on their tennis skills. The tennis camp will build a foundation of the core tennis skills including the forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. In addition, exercises will focus to improve on other tennis related skills such as hand-eye coordination, timing, stamina, and reflexes. The tennis drills, based on the QuickStart tennis program put forth by the USTA, allow for instant tennis success. Tennis can be a difficult sport to learn, but with our specially designed tennis activities, students are playing the game of tennis quicker than ever!

Tennis Instructors

All tennis instructors are trained tennis professionals who have played tennis competitively. See our Tennis Instructors page.

Court Set Up & Equipment

We have outdoor tennis courts as well as indoor locations (large gymnasiums), in which we setup a complete tennis court that matches the skills, sizes, and abilities of young children. Using the Quickstart method established by the USTA, the shorter nets and smaller racquets and balls enable children 10 and under to learn tennis in an easier, more fun way. Scaling down the game enables children to feel overjoyed, instead of overwhelmed and provides them with the confidence and ability to cover the entire court. Mini Aces classes use 1/2 of the full sized tennis court.

  • Court- Mini nets are 18′ long and 2.9′ tall, allowing us to put as many as 4 nets on one full size court.
  • Racquets- In all of our youth tennis programs, we ask that youth racquets be used not only to prevent injury, but to also make it easier for students to have control of their movements. Children 7-10 year olds can use 23″ or 25″ racquets. We have racquet rentals available for $2/lesson if your child needs one.
  • Balls- Regulation tennis balls are too heavy for smaller racquets, in addition to being too fast and bouncy. Foam or low-compression balls move slower and bounce less, so students can practice volleying and work on hand-eye coordination.

This camp for our beginner to experienced beginner Tiny Tennis and Mini Aces Players use the Quickstart USTA tennis teaching methods and court setup.  Each group will have their own Quickstart modified sized tennis court that matches the skills and abilities of young children.  Coupled with our instruction and tennis drills, students instantly start playing tennis.

Cancellation Policy

If you would like to cancel your week of camp, please email us at info@bumblebeetennis.com.

    • Missed days during your camp session cannot be made up since students only attend camp during that specified week. However, your notification of an absence is greatly appreciated.
  • Summer camp deposit refunds:
    • Summer camp deposits cannot be refunded since your spot was held for the camp with that deposit.

If you pay your deposit but do not pay your remaining balance by the payment due date, your spot will be opened up to other registrants. This, however, does not mean that you have lost your deposit. If an open spot remains in the program, you can simply pay your balance and sign up for the camp.

If you have to cancel a week of summer camp:

If your child cannot make it to summer camp the week that you have signed up for, see the below guidelines or consider moving your child’s camp to another available week.  Due to high demand and limited number of spaces in our camp, we appreciate ample notice of any cancellations.

Weather Policy

In case of rain the camp will be canceled for the day and we will notify you via recorded voice message and email.  You can make up the day on another day that fits your schedule at the same location, as long as there is space available.  We are offering camp here for 7 weeks, so there will be many potential days for you to make it up.

In case of rain during the camp we will also notify you via pre-recorded voice message.  In case there is 30 minutes or less of camp, we will just add the time to the next day before or after and let you know of the schedule update.  In case there is more than 30 minutes left you will receive a make up day for use as a drop in on another day at the same location on a schedule of your choosing, space permitting.

We will wait with all children until they are picked up.  In case you prefer us to keep the credit and wait with your child until the end of their session, that is fine too.
