BumbleBee Summer Tennis Camp in NYC
[nivo source="current-post" ]
Tennis
| The BumbleBee Tennis Camp is perfect for beginners and advanced beginners who want to learn and improve on their tennis skills. The tennis camp will build a foundation of the core tennis skills including the forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. In addition, exercises will focus to improve on other tennis related skills such as hand-eye coordination, timing, stamina, and reflexes. The tennis drills, based on the QuickStart tennis program put forth by the USTA, allow for instant tennis success. Tennis can be a difficult sport to learn, but with our specially designed tennis activities, students are playing the game of tennis quicker than ever! |

Swimming
Students also have an hour of swim time Monday through Friday. There is a certified lifeguard on duty at all times. Students who are comfortable in the water can swim, play swim games, or improve their swimming abilities with swim instruction.
However, if your young child is not comfortable in the water yet, that’s OK! We will be happy to help them become familiar with the water and teach them swimming techniques. Learning swimming with their friends makes it all the more fun.
We have helped many young swimmers who were scared of the water at first, with our patient instruction, realize they love the water. One young student went from just dipping his toes in the pool to swimming laps back and forth with the assistance of a swim noodle.

Camp Size
Student to Teacher Ratio: Maximum of 5 Students: 1 Instructor ratio. However, generally there are only 3-4 students per Instructor.
Total Camp Size: There is a maximum of 15-25 students for the entire camp! Since this is a small private tennis camp with limited spaces, enrollment is on a first come first serve basis.
Court Set Up & Equipment
We will set up youth sized tennis courts in the large gymnasium located on the 3rd floor of John Jay College. Using the Quickstart method established by the USTA, the shorter nets and smaller racquets and balls enable children 10 and under to learn tennis in an easier, more fun way. Scaling down the game enables children to feel overjoyed, instead of overwhelmed and provides them with the confidence and ability to cover the entire court. Mini Aces classes use 1/2 of the full sized tennis court.
- Court- Mini nets are 18′ long and 2.9′ tall, allowing us to put as many as 4 nets on one full size court.
- Racquets- In all of our youth tennis programs, we ask that youth racquets be used not only to prevent injury, but to also make it easier for students to have control of their movements. Children 7-10 year olds can use 23″ or 25″ racquets. We have racquet rentals available for $2/lesson if your child needs one.
- Balls- Regulation tennis balls are too heavy for smaller racquets, in addition to being too fast and bouncy. Foam or low-compression balls move slower and bounce less, so students can practice volleying and work on hand-eye coordination.

This camp for our beginner to experienced beginner Tiny Tennis and Mini Aces Players use the Quickstart USTA tennis teaching methods and court setup. Each group will have their own Quickstart modified sized tennis court that matches the skills and abilities of young children. Coupled with our instruction and tennis drills, students instantly start playing tennis.
